Chugach Adventure Guides (CAG) helicopter operation was founded as Chugach Powder Guides (CPG) in 1997. Alaska was just becoming known on the world scene as a recognized destination for backcountry ski terrain. While the media grabbed onto the hard adventure hype surrounding events like the World Extreme Skiing Championships, we knew the Chugach Range wasn't just for adrenaline junkies. Since then, CPG helicopters have opened up the finest backcountry skiing and boarding in the world, flying guests to adventures that are suitable for all skill levels. We have cataloged over 500 runs and thousands of landings between the pioneering of the Tordrillos and the Chugach. Today, this indescribable terrain and our stellar reputation bring ski and snowboard enthusiasts from around the world to experience mountain adventures that are exclusive to Alaska.
Our terrain and reputation have bought the finest backcountry guides in North America to our door. Being skiers first and foremost, CPG understands that id our clients come all the way to Alaska, it is imperative that they ski or ride no matter what. With this in mind, we developed our snowcat skiing terrain for no-fly days and have fostered a cooperative relationship with Alyeska Resort to assure that you ski or board no matter what, without compromising our safety standards.
CPG is dedicated to providing guests with the finest skiing experiences in the world. As guides, we accept the responsibility entrusted upon us to make your ski vacation as safe and memorable as possible.
We achieve this by setting a high standard for ourselves as an outfit and a guide staff. As an adventure company, we dedicate ourselves as much to our guides as we do our guests, and value our guides participation and return from season to season. We also understand that our guests have many options when selecting a ski company. We believe that the most important element in a guide service is the guides themselves. Your safety and enjoyment in the field is our primary goal. You will not find a more dedicated and diverse group of career guides on staff anywhere in Alaska. We work hard at it!

Heliskiing in the Tordrillo Range - Looking for and entirely different ski experience? Join Chugach Powder Guides at our ski destiniation in the heart of the Alaska Range, The Tordrillo Mountain Lodge. Along with ski legends Jeremy Nobis and Tommy Moe, CPG has formed a partnership to service winter and summer ski programs in the giant mountains that our Kings and Corn clients have marveled at for the last nine years. This log structure is on the banks of the Talachulitna River and Judd Lake. Guests enjoy all the comforts of a first class Alaska lodge, including private baths, cozy beds, and Alaska cuisine prepared by a top chef. Satellite wireless access, a beautiful copper bar and flat screen TV are available for evening entertainment, and cross country skiing and snow shoe trecks provide adventure on down days. Our wood fired hot tup and sauna provide relaxation at the end of the ski day in this far removed, one-of-a-kind ski expereince. The 40-minute trip from Anchorage is onboard a float or ski plane.
The Tordrillo area is a massive chunk of terrain just 60 miles west of Anchorage. Lodging and our base of operations is sandwiched between two 11,000-foot volcanoes and Denali at 20,320 feet. Although Denali ski descents are not permitted, we do have our eyes on the terrain surrounding the volcanoes. Mt. Gerdine and Mt. Torbert have some of the most outstanding heli terrain we have ever experienced. Massive glaciers and couloir-incised peaks are an endless pursuit. This remote range receives generous amounts of snow and an equal amount of stable weather conditions. Imagine laying powder turns down these slopes with Denali and the volcanoes looming in the background. Imagine? Yes, because until this season it has never been offered. Be a first.
